This candle is the perfect offering for Proteus, featuring a clean and fresh blend of sea breeze and cologne, complete with water and ocean notes. Proteus is a mythological figure in Greek mythology, known as the prophetic old man of the sea and protector of bodies of water. He was a figure of great knowledge and power, able to see the past, present, and future. However, he was also known for being reluctant to share his knowledge with others. Those who wished to consult him had to catch him during his noonday slumber and hold him fast, despite his attempts to escape by taking on different shapes.

Proteus was a primordial deity and a protector of the seas, rivers, and other bodies of water. In one myth, Aristaeus sought his help to discover why his beehives had suddenly died. After capturing Proteus and holding him fast, Aristaeus learned that the death of the bees was a punishment for causing the death of Eurydice. Proteus advised Aristaeus to sacrifice twelve animals to the gods and to return three days later. When Aristaeus returned, he found a swarm of bees in one of the animals, which he was able to capture and take back home.

The word "protean," meaning "changeable in shape or form," is derived from Proteus. This candle is a beautiful offering to this powerful and enigmatic figure of mythology.
