FREYJA aka FREYA (also known as Freja, Freyia, Fröja, Frøya, Frøjya, Frua, and ᚠᚱᛅᚢᛁᛅ) Norse Goddess of Love, Beauty, Sex, Fertility, Battle, Magic, and Death.

This is a perfect 8 oz offering candle for Freyja, which has the aroma of light musk, amber musk fragrance, and a hint of cocoa in the background for a sensual and feminine scent. These are embedded with tumbled labradorite gemstones and beautiful pink & peach rose petals homegrown on our own rose bushes, both sacred to Freya, and perfect for a ritual candle.

Poured into an 8 oz black candle tin with a matching lid, and labeled with love and positive energy.

Meaning “the lady,” the name Freya (Freyja in the Old Norse) was derived from the Proto-Germanic frawjon, an honorific title used for a mature woman of high social standing. It was also the root of the word frau in modern German, the honorific title for married women. “Freya” was probably first used as an epithet or nickname by one of the Germanic tribes. However, it would eventually gain popularity and become a personal name.

Freya had many epithets, and was known as the Gefn (“the giver”), Hörn (“flaxen,” probably in reference to her flaxen hair), Mardöll (“sea shaker”), Sýr (“sow,” a creature that stood for fertility much like Freya herself) and Valfreyja (“lady of the slain”).

Freyja is the owner of the necklace Brísingamen, rides a chariot pulled by two cats, is accompanied by the boar Hildisvíni, and possesses a cloak of falcon feathers. By her husband Óðr, she is the mother of two daughters, Hnoss and Gersemi. Freyja was the most renowned of the Norse goddesses who was the sister and female counterpart of Freyr and was in charge of love, fertility, battle, and death. Her father was Njörd, the sea god.

Additionally, “Friday” was likely named after Freya. The word was believed to be a portmanteau of “Freya’s day.”

Candle Instructions: Always keep wick trimmed back to under 1/4" (6.35mm) at all times, before and during burning. Do not burn for longer than 4 hours at a time. Discontinue use when the overall wax level falls to 1/4" (6mm) or less in the bottom of the container. Caution - the container can get scalding. Please burn on heatproof safe surfaces away from children and pets. Do not allow melted wax to contact skin as burns may occur.

DURING WARMER MONTHS, we can't guarantee that USPS will deliver your melts before they melt slightly. If this occurs, try putting the melts or candle into your refrigerator for a few minutes before opening or using your wax melts or candle.
